In a competitive field, Ravenswood’s cross country teams came away with fifth and seventh place finishes in the Dutch Miller Cross Country Invitational.

The meet took place on the Kennedy Center Course in Huntington.

“It was a good effort by all the runners,” said head coach Bryan Canterbury. “It was a very hot and humid morning to compete, but both teams took up the challenge.”

The girls team was fifth with 112 total points. Hurricane was first with 45 points.

Maci Mossor led the way for Ravenswood with a finish of 18th overall. Mossor's time was 22:52.

Emily Wratchford was right behind Mossor in the 19th spot. Her time was 23:01.

Sami Maxson had a Top 30 finish by placing 26th. She was clocked at 23:46.

Kadi Price was 28th with a time of 24:07.

Ravenswood’s crew of runners also featured Hadleigh McGoskey (32nd, 24:43), Kenzi Nesselroad (34th, 25:36), Brooke Meadows (37th, 25:45), Brianna Sotomayor (57th, 28:28), Zoie Meadows (63rd, 30:13) and Olivia Long (94th, 37:27).

“For the girls, it was a strong showing against ranked AAA teams and AA teams,” Canterbury said. “The Top 7 ran together and tried to keep the pack close and the gaps close. This was by far the best effort of pack-running by this team. Maci and Kadi ran outstanding races, while Hadleigh ran her first race. We beat Wayne on Kenzi's sixth place finish.”

In the boys race, Ravenswood’s Cade Curfman was 15th with a time of 18:31.

Winfield took the team title with 33 points.

Ravenswood had a team total of 175.

“The boys also ran against some of the top teams in the state and we were pleased with their efforts,” said Canterbury. “Cade led the way with a strong effort, while Logan and Tucker ran well.  Blair was running after sickness.”

Next in line for Ravenswood was Logan Alfred, who was 43rd with a time of 20:29.

Tucker Gorrell was 47th in a time of 20:44.

Blair Anderson was 80th in a time of 23:31 and Wyatt Nickerson was 82nd with a clocking of 23:32.

“Once again, our team competes against the best competition every meet. It has always been a tradition in our program,” said Canterbury.
