The Class AA-A portion of the 74th annual West Virginia High School State Wrestling Tournament again belonged to the Point Pleasant Big Blacks.

John Bonecutter's program won a third straight team title and sixth overall.

Point Pleasant was a part of Ravenswood's Region IV.

The Big Blacks accumulated 247.5 points over the two-day affair.

Fairmont Senior was second with 112.

Moorefield had the most points of the Class A schools with 54.

The Red Devils of head coach Eric Hupp had two wrestlers in the competition and came away with one victory.

Freshman Wyatt Milhoan defeated Logan Hylton of Pikeview in a first round consolation match with a first period pin (36 seconds).

Milhoan had opened the tournament by falling by pin to Ritchie County freshman Tristen Gianni of Ritchie at the 1:14 mark of the first period.

Following the win over Hylton, Milhoan lost a 2-1 heartbreaker to Webster County sophomore Darren Barnette.

Ravenswood junior Ethan Lane opened his tournament in the 285-pound division against Clay County's Colton Casto. Lane was pinned by the eventual state runner-up in the second period (3:02).

Casto, a senior, lost a hard-fought, 6-4, decision to Greenbrier West's Noah Brown, who also won a title in 2020, in the championship match.

Lane was eliminated from the tournament in the consolation round when he was pinned by Independence's Logan Isom in the second period (4:02).

With both Milhoan and Lane returning next season it will bode well for the Devil program.
