Ravenswood Devilette 4x200 team scores at Little Kanawha Conference meet
The Ravenswood girls 4x200 relay team dented the team scoreboard at the annual Little Kanawha Conference Championships last week.
The Devilette foursome of freshman Maci Mosser, freshman Lauren Raynes, sophomore Morgan Smith and junior Haley Ward turned in a time 2:09.20 to finish fourth in the event.
Williamstown took first in a time of 1:48.97. The Lady Yellowjacket unit consisted of Camryn Irvin, Emma Berman, Jalie Henthorne and Ella McMullen.
Ritchie was second (1:56.28) and Doddridge was third (1:57.41).
Placing behind Ravenswood for fifth and sixth, respectively, were Roane County (2:09.47) and Clay County (2:09.78).
Some outstanding teams in the ranks of both Class AA and Class A competed in the meet, staged inside the Chuck Schofield Memorial Stadium track and field complex on the Ritchie County High School campus in Ellenboro.
Williamstown took the team title in the girls division with 154 points. Doddridge County was second with 111.
The rest of the team scoring in the annual meet went as follows: Ritchie County (94), St. Marys (49), Tyler Consolidated (37), Parkersburg Catholic (22), Roane County (19), Wahama (17), Calhoun County (10), Wirt County (8), Webster County (6) and Clay County (6).
In the boys division, Doddridge County took the crown with 179 points. Ritchie County was the runner-up with 149.
St. Marys with 51 and Williamstown with 45 followed.
The rest of the team scoring looked like this: Roane County (22), Wahama (20), Clay County (19), South Harrison (13), Webster County (11), Wirt County (8), Braxton County (7) and Gilmer County (5).
Both the Ravenswood girls and boys teams were slated for regional competition this week.
The West Virginia High School State Track and Field Meet is scheduled for June 9-12 at University of Charleston Stadium in Charleston.
Class A action will get going June 9 with the 3200 meters and 400 meters. The remainder of the events will unfold June 10.
The 3200 meters and 400 meters for Class AA will take place the evening of June 10 with the rest of the competition taking place June 11.
Class AAA's 3200 and 400 action will be staged the evening of June 11. The Class AAA portion of the meet will continue the bulk of the day on June 12.
