Lady Viking softball picks up three more wins in 2021 season
And the beat goes on.
Ripley High’s girls softball team enjoyed rolling up three more wins in recent action and did so inside the friendly confines of Lady Viking Park.
The Lady Vikings blanked Point Pleasant in a single game, 6-0, while sweeping a doubleheader against Wheeling Park by scoring 10 runs in back-to-back games.
The wins put Ripley at 17-4 on the season.

Chloe Shinn continued to shine in the pitching circle as part of Ripley’s 6-0 shutout.
The senior started strong by retiring the first 11 batters she faced. Shinn gave up just five hits, while striking out seven.
Only one Point Pleasant base runner managed to reach third in the contest.
Offensively, the Lady Vikings collected six hits. Kyra Winter had two singles and drove home three of Ripley’s six runs. Elli Hershey drove home a run with a double. Sydney Varney had a single and RBI.
Kristabelle Carte and McKenna Hall each had base hits. Cassidy Cummings brought home a run on fielder’s choice.
Ripley 10, Wheeling Park 4
Wheeling Park owned a lead of 4-3 going into the bottom of the fourth and then things changed big-time in Ripley’s favor.
With the bases loaded, Winter crushed a WP pitch over the fence for a grand slam. Ripley would added another run in the inning to go up 8-4 and never looked back the rest of the way.
With the lead, Shinn kept the Lady Patriot bats in check by not allowing a base runner in the last three innings of play. In seven innings of work, she gave up seven hits and struck out five.
Ripley’s final two runs came in the sixth.
Kaitlyn Swisher went 3-for-3 in the game to lead Ripley’s 11-hit attack. She drove home a pair of runs.
Aaliyah Baldwin was 2-for-4 and had a pair of RBI. Cummings had a single, double and RBI. Varney, Carte and Grace Walsh all had hits and combined to score four runs.
Ripley 10-Wheeling Park 2
Ripley pounded out 16 hits to capture the victory in the nightcap by the five-inning mercy rule.
Hall had three hits, including a pair of doubles and knocked in a run.
Carte had a strong showing at the plate going 3-for-3, including a double. She also brought home two runs and scored twice herself.
Baldwin had two hits, including a double.
Swisher had two hits.
Hershey drilled her eighth home run of the season. Walsh had a single and two RBI.
Cummings and Winter had RBI singles.
Shinn and Varney also produced singles.
Varney got the win in the circle, pitching three innings and allowing just two base runners on a walk and an error. Shinn pitched the final two innings.
