For a second time in her still young career, Ripley’s Ellie Hosaflook is an All-Stater in the sport of cross country.

Competing on a tough day weather-wise at Cabell Midland High School’s Chris Parsons Course in Ona, Hosaflook finished in Class AAA's Top 10 by placing fourth to earn the honor for a second straight time. The sophomore was clocked at 19:38.

She finished behind Morgantown’s Irene Riggs (18:24), Preston’s Allie Martin (18:59) and Morgantown’s Lea Hatcher (19:30).

Morgantown won the team title with 21 points as five of its runners placed in the Top 10. University was a distant second with 89.

Ripley was seventh as a team with 162.

Haleigh McCune (33rd, 21:46), Opal Huffman (38th, 22:07), Emma Shockey (48th, 22:35), Tori Fisher (54th, 23:27), Emily Dunlap (63rd, 24:13) and Corbin Casto (75th, 26:51) all represented the blue and white in Ona.

Returning All-Stater Chase Pepper, who missed the bulk of the season, finished 27th in the Class AAA boys race in a time of 17:57.

Pepper displayed great determination just to get back on the course before the season’s end and earn a fourth straight trip to the state meet through regional qualifying.

University was the AAA team champ with Wheeling Park second.

Larry Josh Edwards of University was the individual champion with a time of 15:51.
