Since the high school wrestling season has been condensed, teams are trying to squeeze in as much competition as possible.

Matt Smith’s 2021 squad has taken on teams from various parts of the Mountain State.

Here’s a breakdown of recent head-to-head competition:

Ripley 60-George Washington 9

Luke Miller (132), Evan Shouldis (138), Eli Koontz (145), Hunter Brown (152), Matt Moore (195) and Andrew Manley (285) all won matches by pins. Kain Price (106), Brett Haskins (126), Isaac Parsons (160) and Dakota Parsons (220) picked up forfeits.

Herbert Hoover 45-Ripley 26

Winners for the Vikings were Haskins (126) with a 4-3 decision, Miller (132) won his match with an 18-3 technical fall while Shouldis (138), Isaac Parsons and Manley all recorded pins.

Cabell Midland 52-Ripley 25

Haskins (126) captured a major decision, Shouldis (138) earned a 3-1 decision, Dakota Parsons (220) and Manley registered pins for the Viking victories.

Ripley 48-Shady Spring 24

Nate Cox (120), Haskins (126), Miller (132), Isaac Parsons (160), and Moore (195) picked up victories with pins against the Tigers. Shouldis (138) and Koontz (145) won by decision. Dakota Parsons (220) and Manley (285) picked up forfeits.

Parkersburg South 60-Ripley 6

Against the powerhouse Patriot program, Moore (195) and Dakota Parsons (220) were the lone winners. Moore decisioned Oscar Lemus, 1-0, while Parsons was a 5-2 winner over Zane Taylor.

Fairmont Senior 51-Ripley 21

Miller (132) produced a 10-3 decision over Hunter Spitznogle while Price (106), Cox (113) and Brock Matson (120) were awarded forfeits.

Oak Glen 51-Ripley 30

Miller (132), Isaac Parsons (160) and Manley (285) all recorded pins in the match with the Golden Bear program. Cox (113) and Haskins (126) both won by forfeit.
