Red Devil wrestlers to do plenty of traveling

Mark Martin

This isn’t your father’s wrestling schedule.

In normal times, a high school wrestling slate would have the word “tournament” attached to many of its dates.

Such isn’t the case in 2021.

In-season tournaments have been put on hold for the sport this year due to COVID.

Thus, teams will be involved in a plethora of dual matches along with events featuring three and four teams.

Ravenwood’s schedule has the Devils of head coach Eric Hupp on the road virtually the entire season with the exception of one home match.

The Devils will get things going at Williamstown on March 3.

Next comes a trip to Chapmanville on March 10.

A showdown on the mats with Wahama will take place in Mason County on March 13.

Next will come trips to Doddridge County on March 17 and St. Marys on March 20.

Chapmanville will again host Ravenswood March 23 followed by the Devils making a journey to Mt. Zion for a meeting with Calhoun County on March 27.

Roane County entertains Ravenwood on March 31.

On April 3, Ravenswood finally takes a break from the road by entertaining South Harrison.

On April 9 and 10, Ravenswood takes on Winfield.

Regional competition will come next for the Devils with the State Tournament taking place April 21-22.
