High School Basketball Ravenswood boys schedule update

Mark Martin

Once again…we bring you a Ravenswood Runnin’ Red Devil basketball schedule for the season of 2021.

Due to COVID-19 issues within the state, winter sports schedules have had to be changed not once, not twice but three times.

After a couple of scrimmages, Ravenswood will open the season now on March 5 – at a time of year when the sport of basketball is winding down.

But a season is better than no season at all in the eyes of coaches like Mick Price, who enters his 43rd season guiding the Devils.

The scrimmages are set for February 27 at Riverside and at home March 2 with Sissonville.

The season opener will be on the road at Wirt County.

Ravenswood will then come home to play two on March 6 and March 9 with Ripley and Wahama, respectively.

The Devils will follow up the homestand by hitting the road for three straight games. On March 11, Ravenswood journeys to Parkersburg Catholic followed by a showdown at Charleston Catholic March 13.

On March 15, Ravenswood plays at West Virginia State University’s Walker Convocation Center against Huntington St. Joseph in the Par Mar Stores Shootout at the Big House.

A return to the home court will follow for a matchup with Williamstown on March 16 and an encounter with Ritchie County on March 18.

Ravenswood plays back-to-rack road games with St. Marys on March 23 and Tyler Consolidated on March 25 and then wraps up the month at home with two games. Roane County will visit on March 27 followed by Wirt County on March 30.

The first day of April has Ravenswood making the trek to Wahama and then travelling to Roane County on the third day of the month.

Parkersburg Catholic comes to Jackson County for a contest on April 6.

Depending on how the Ravenswood season goes, the Devils will either be involved with an LKC Placement Game on April 8 or take part in the league’s Night of Champions on April 10.

A second meeting of the season with Ripley is set for April 13 on the Vikings home court before the regular season closes at home with St. Marys on April 16.

Class AA sectional play for Ravenswood will unfold April 19-24. Regionals are set for April 17-29.

The West Virginia Boys High School State Basketball Tournament is set for May 4-8.
