Davis Haynes is taking his intellect and golfing talents to West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon.

The Ripley High All-State golfer, who has emerged as one of the best on the Callaway Junior series the past few years in West Virginia, will compete for the Bobcats on the links while getting his education on the picturesque Wesleyan campus.

At this past year’s West Virginia High School State Golf Tournament Haynes finished seventh overall in the Class AAA competition to earn All-State honors.

The two-day event was played on the Ogelbay Park Jones Course in Wheeling.

Haynes had rounds of 83 and 80 at the State Tournament to land himself in the Top 8 (which determines All-State).

Prior to the State Tournament, Haynes took medalist honors in the regional tournament to earn his way to Wheeling.

Haynes started golfing at a young age.

Besides his time on the course, Haynes has been a solid fixture in Ripley’s proud baseball program.

He was a starting pitcher both as a freshman and sophomore before COVID-19 put a stop to his junior season.

Most importantly, Haynes carries a GPA a 4.0 or better at Ripley High.
