The Physical Education Building (a.k.a. New Gym, Girls’ Gym, and High School Gym) has been home to the Devilettes since 1977. Modern day Devilette basketball actually started play in 1974, with volleyball officially “setting” sail in 1978.

Devilette Nation is preparing to celebrate its history and unveil a new name for its home court. New murals, pad upgrades, and an external sign will be unveiled and dedicated on Oct. 2, 2021. Starting Oct. 2, The Devilette Athletic Center (or The DAC) will officially become the new name for the home court of the Devilettes.

First, in order to add wall murals, upgrade wall pads, and add an external sign for the gym, we need the support of past and current basketball and volleyball players, coaches, support staff, parents, fans, and businesses to help raise the funds to make “The DAC” a reality. Based on current estimations, we will need to raise $8,500 (any excess funds raised will be split between the girls’ basketball and volleyball teams’ fundraiser placement accounts). You can contribute to this effort in one of the following ways:

• Donate online at GoFundMe;

• Make an in-person donation at the front desk of the High School to Coach Michael, Coach Braham, or Sierra Gould (financial secretary at RvHS), or to Kate Michael by stopping in at Mandy and Kate’s; or

• Mail your check to Ravenswood High School, 1 Plaza Drive, Ravenswood, WV, 26164 c/o Coach Michael/DAC Celebration (with checks made out to Devilette Athletics)

Second, we are inviting all past and current Devilette athletes and coaches to help us celebrate this special occasion. If COVID allows us, we are planning several activities for the weekend of Oct. 2, 2021 (Homecoming weekend), including:

• Devilette Alumni Tent at the High School (Oct. 1, 1 p.m.)

• Devilette Meet & Greet at the DAC (Oct. 2, 11 a.m.)

• Unveiling of the DAC and recognition of alumni (Oct. 2, 12 p.m.)

• Continued fellowship at the Devilette volleyball quad (Oct. 2, following the DAC unveiling). Refreshments will be served throughout the day!

R.S.V.P for the meet and greet plus dedication ceremony (which gets you into a volleyball quad match) by going to the Devilette Facebook page or by emailing Coach Michael ( When you R.S.V.P please include sport(s) you played and maiden name (if married, with last name change). No need to R.S.V.P for tent city.

LET’S PACK THE DAC on Oct. 2 for a day of fellowship and celebration!
