Red Devils beaten by Tygarts Valley

Ravenswood football observed Homecoming on Friday night inside Flinn Field at Spano-Taylor Stadium.

But Tygarts Valley’s Bulldogs took a big bite out of the celebration by shutting out the Red Devils, 30-0.

Tygarts Valley improved to 6-1 on the season while Ravenswood dropped to 0-6 on the year.

The two were playing each other for the first time in each one's program history.

The showdown came about due to COVID-19 as Ravenswood’s slated game with Doddridge County was halted as was a meeting with South Harrison for Tygarts Valley.

Tygarts Valley opened its scoring with a 15-yard TD pass form Josh Bright to Jace Swecker. The score came at the 8:26 mark of the first quarter. A successful extra point by Liam Depp put the Bulldogs in front to stay, 7-0.

A big second quarter of scoring by the Bulldogs doomed the Devils.

Daniel White scored from 10 yards out with 7:47 to go before halftime. The extra point was good by Depp.

Next came a safety by the Bulldog defense nearly a minute later. White capped off the second quarter-scoring with a 3-yard run with just 11 seconds remaining in the half. Another successful extra point by Depp made it a 23-0 count at the break.

Bright’s 3-yard run in the fourth with 10:40 to play followed by a successful Depp extra point capped the scoring for the night.

Isaiah Casto was the workhorse for the Red Devils churning out 134 yards on 20 carries. Deondre Briggs carried five times for 49 yards. Shawn Banks picked up 15 on one carry.

Passing-wise, Jacob Bowling completed 1-of-8 attempts through the years for 22 yards.

Casto had the lone catch for the Red Devils.

Banks, Ben Queen, Zach Johnson, Wes Hill and Ethan Lane all had five tackles.

Jaden Sayre, Bryson Litton, Joe Chambers and Brett Parsons all had four tackles.

Case Fletcher had three, Caleb Lane had two while Brandon Bragg, Daniel Hunt and Brandon Haynes each had one.

TV's Bright completed 7-of-13 passes for 114 yards and the touchdown.

White had 135 yards on 17 carries for the the Bulldogs and the two touchdowns. Caden Boggs finished the night with 105 yards on 17 carries.

Aiden Row caught three passes for 53 yards, Boggs had two receptions for 34 yards and Swecker had two receptions for 27 yards, including the TD.

Ravenswood is slated to meet Sherman tonight (Tuesday) at home in a makeup game and then turn around and face Clay on the road this Friday.
