Senior Hallie Bigley gets the hit for the Red Devilettes.

In their second match on Sept. 8, Ravenswood took on Wood County Christian school, losing three out of four sets; 24-26, 21-25, 25-17, and 21-25.

“We were our own worst enemy on this one,” Michael said. “You can’t miss 19 serves in a match and expect to beat anyone!”

However, the defense was solid, according to Michael. Hallie Bigley led the team with 39/34 passing.

“She is off to a great start,” Michael said.

Olivia Fitzpatrick led with 8 aces and going 19/23 on serves. Michael said the best servers were Braylin Tabor and Marissa Smith who combined for 27 on 28 serving with 7 aces.

Hannah Rhodes led at the net with 10 kills and Brooklyn Adams led with 3 blocks.

Lindsey Carroll and Abby Scritchfield chipped in 9 kills each.

Next, it was on to play the Lady Rebels of Ritchie County on Sept. 10, in a varsity/junior varsity dual.

“We had a great serving night,” Michael said. “We went 61 of 67 with 15 aces.”

Tabor and Fitzpatrick led with a combined 24 of 24 with 7 aces.

Scritchfield led the team in scoring with 16 points. Rhodes and Carroll chipped in 9 and 7 respectively.

Bigley led the defense with 36 passes on target and chipped in 7 points off her serve.

Adams led the team in blocks with 2.

Tabor led the team in sets with 39 of her 40 attempts on target.

“Abby, Hannah, and Lindsay all made significant contributions in our offense,” Michael said. “Abby had 16 attacks with 6 kills, Lindsey Carroll with 16 attacks and 5 kills, and Hannah Rhodes with 14 attacks and 5 kills.”
