By the time you read this, the spring sports will be in full swing at the high school. We got to watch a scrimmage game for softball at the Eastwood field. The girls played Roane County which appears to be a good team. Our girls did okay and we look forward to seeing some wins as the season progresses. We haven’t had a chance to see the boys play anything yet. Hopefully they are now playing games also.

We are happy that we can now go to the remaining basketball games (both girls and boys) without having to have tickets ahead of time. You can just pay your way into the games now. It seems like it’s been a long season when you are limited to being allowed into games.

The Ohio River Festival committee is holding a golf tournament at the Green Hills Golf Course on June 19. They need teams to participate in the event. You can call 304-273-2293 for more information.

The River Rats musicians have permission to start playing their music on Thursday evenings at Riverfront Park. They are excited to once again be able to entertain people with their musical talents. When the weather permits they will be playing on the stage beginning around 5:30 p.m. Bring your lawn chair and whatever snacks you like and a beverage and enjoy these men and women as they entertain you. There is a concrete pad in front of the stage to use for dancing.

We still cannot open the center and get back to normal inside the building even though our county is okay to do so. Apparently EVERY county has to be “okay” before anyone can return to the centers. So in the meantime we just have to bide our time and pray everything settles down soon.

We are handing out hot meals on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the front of the center from 11 a.m.-noon. Frozen meals are given out on Thursday to cover meals for Friday and Monday. You may call the center at 304-273-5648 to learn more about the meal program and to order meals.
