Local writer Lewis publishes book on John 3:16
Ravenswood’s Ron Lewis has written and published his second book. The new work is “John 3:16: God’s Quick Word for a Hurried World.”
The book is available in Ravenswood at Foodfair, Affectionately Yours Floral & Gift and Ravenswood Floral & Gifts. It is sold online at Amazon.com and other major booksellers.
“This is a short book, just 36 pages, but I think that might be a good length for a person who’s willing to consider the gospel but wouldn’t read a full-length book,” said Lewis, who wrote for 10 years as a reporter and columnist at The Parkersburg News.
Phrase by phrase, the book analyzes the famous Bible verse John 3:16, which Lewis calls “25 words of 24-karat communication” and “the grandest statement ever uttered on planet earth.”
“One verse captures the message of the entire Bible. One verse summarizes some 30,000 verses,” Lewis said. “That fascinates me as a writer. On a spiritual level, the verse gives a simple explanation of God’s plan for saving lost souls. My goal for my book is that people will be saved.”
Lewis’s first book, “When Hope Is Lost: How To Survive When Life’s Storms Threaten To Drown Your Dreams,” was published in 2007.
“I appreciate local merchants selling ‘John 3:16,’” Lewis said. “From what I’ve seen, buying the paperback version here is considerably cheaper than buying the paperback version on the web.”
Lewis graduated from Ravenswood High School in 1980. He wrote for the morning newspaper in Parkersburg from 1984-1994. Among his assignments was covering the West Virginia Legislature. After leaving the newspaper, he started the annual football magazine “Mountaineer Recruiting Roundup.” Lewis now works for the Bureau of the Fiscal Service (formerly Public Debt).
