Ripley to showcase classic cars on June 5

Cavalcade of Customs is Saturday, June 5, with a parade of classic cars followed by a car show on the municipal lot in Ripley.

Cavalcade of Customs is more than a car show.

Director Shaun Scott says the Saturday, June 5, event in Ripley is open to cars, motorcycles, tractors and “anything on wheels.” The show is sponsored by the Cpl. Walter L. Mann Detachment 1065 of the Marine Corps League.

Registration begins a 9:30 a.m. at Ripley High School. The $20 entry fee includes a T-shirt. Proceeds benefit local veterans. An optional parade of vehicles proceeds at noon from the school to the show location on the Municipal Parking Lot.

Food vendors will be available and trophies are to be awarded.

In addition, car enthusiasts are having more informal monthly cruise-in events at Ripley area dealerships. They are scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 11 (I-77 Ford); Friday, July 9 (I-77 Chevrolet); Friday, Aug. 13 (I-77 Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram); and Friday, Sept. 10 (I-77 Ford).
