"Read, Play, Grow” has grown by leaps and bounds!

What started out as a goal of 30 bags of books and parent friendly activities for Jackson County Early Explorers has grown each week as demand for the bags has flourished.

Each Monday, the Read, Play, Grow building at the Cedar Lakes Conference Center is stocked with new bags filled with books and activities which support the theme of the week.

To continue providing these bags, Read Aloud of Jackson County (RAL) will partner with the Early Explorers to provide the books that initiate the activities. In partnering with Read Aloud, Jackson County Early Explorers will be able to continue these well received activities for more weeks than originally planned.

Read Aloud’s mission is to motivate children to want to read.

“This is the perfect opportunity to pair two organizations with the same goal, to bring books to life,” according to Cheryl Miller, co-founder of Jackson County Early Explorers and a Read Aloud board member.

Prior to COVID restrictions, RAL offered Snuggle and Read opportunities for parents of young children. When that could not happen, Early Explorers created a new avenue through which children would receive books and get activities included in the packets. These support materials would bring the books to life.

“RAL of Jackson County is very happy to support Jackson County Early Explorers in getting books in the hands of children,” according to Janet McCauley, co-chairman of RAL Jackson County.

Read Aloud of Jackson County is supported through the Child Literacy/Read Aloud fund held by the Jackson County Community Foundation.
