County set to receive stimulus funds
In the recently approved federal American Rescue Plan, Jackson County will receive several million dollars in stimulus funding. This money can be used for infrastructure and COVID-19 related expenses. Infrastructure most likely to receive attention from city and county officials include broadband and communications, water and sewer projects.
The amount of money allocated to each entity was based on population taken from the most recent census.
The breakdown of funds is as follows:
- County commission: $5.54 million.
- City of Ripley: $1.31 million.
- City of Ravenswood: $1.52 million.
As more information becomes available, details on how the money is expended will be reported.
