The Ripley High School Alumni Association salutes over 1,000 Viking Veterans on the banner at the corner of Routes 21 and 33 in Ripley.

The Ripley High School Alumni Association proudly salutes Ripley High School Veterans with a banner displayed on the corner of Routes 21 and 33 in Ripley. This ongoing project began last year as a vision of alumni members, and to date has accumulated over 1,049 veterans names, branches of service, and class year attended.

Thanks to the help of alumni members, family, friends, classmates, and staff of Ripley High School, this idea was able to come to fruition.

A Facebook page with 5,040 members has also been set up by the RHS Alumni Association. The purpose of the page is to preserve and record RHS history plus current information as it happens.

Items of interest posted to the page include scanned yearbooks, moments in Ripley High School history, memories of Vikings who have passed, and much more.

The RHS Alumni Association meets at 6 p.m. on the second Monday of every month at the Jackson County Board of Education building. Anyone Ripley High graduates interested in joining are invited to show up to a meeting.

For more information, on the association or to include a name to the list of Viking Veterans who either attended or graduated from Ripley High School, please e-mail the veteran’s name, branch of service, and class year attended or graduated to Bonnie Ludtman at bonnie.ludtman@gmail.com or Melissa Hatcher at melissahatcher@ymail.com. Submissions may also be sent through the Ripley High School Alumni Association Facebook page via post or by private message through Facebook Messenger to Bonnie Calhoun Ludtman or Melissa Fox Hatcher. To mail submissions, mail to Ripley High School Alumni Association, PO Box 921, Ripley, WV 25271.

The RHS Veteran’s banner will remain up until Thanksgiving.
