The Devilettes of Ravenswood took to the road to face off against the Lady White Falcons of Wahama in the season opener on Thursday, Sept. 3.

In a three match set the Lady White Falcons claimed the victory over the Devilettes 25-19, 25-16, and 25-20.

Leading the scoring for the Devilettes were senior Hannah Rhodes with 15 points and junior Lindsey Carroll with 11.

“We had a very good serving night,” Devilettes Coach Chris Michael said. “The team only missed five serves in three sets putting them at 93 percent.”

Leaders were Marissa Smith at 8/9 with 3 aces; Olivia Fitzpatrick went 11/12 with 2 aces; and Rhodes had 10/11 with 2 aces.

“Hallie Bigley led our defense,” Michael said. “She is our libero. She had 32 passes on target out of 37 attempts bringing her in at 86 percent.”

Michael said Rhodes was also very good on defense with 42 passes on target out of 52 attempts, give her an 81 percent average.

Braylin Tabor led the team in sets with 51 on target and set at 91 percent accuracy.

Carroll led the net with 8 kills on 22 or 27 spikes. Rhodes chipped in 5 kills on 15 of 17 spikes in.

Abby Scritchfield and Brooklyn Adams had 1 block each.

Devilettes are set to meet up with Poca at Wayne on Tuesday (tonight-depending on COVID numbers). Then it’s home for matches on Thursday and Saturday.
