For the second time in the span of a few days, Ravenswood senior boys basketball player Jaycob Creel earned a postseason honor.
After being tabbed a Second Team selection in the All-Little Kanawha Conference balloting, Creel garnered Honorable Mention on Wednesday when the Class A All-State teams were announced.
Creel played just one season for the Ravenswood Runnin’ Red Devil program but made the most of it.
He led the team in scoring by averaging 12.5 a game. He also pulled down 7.2 rebounds each night out.
In addition, he dished out 35 assists and was credited with 37 steals.
“He had a good year,” said veteran Ravenswood head coach Mick Price. “I would have liked to have had him a few more years.”
The Class A All-State teams were the first of three to be released by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.
Charleston Catholic junior Aiden Satterfield was the captain of the First Team.
He was joined by St. Marys sophomore Grant Barnhart, Patrick Copen, a senior from Parkersburg Catholic, Williamstown junior Sam Cremeans, J.C. Maxwell, a junior out of Wheeling Central, Greater Beckley Christian senior Elijah Edwards, Tug Valley junior Caleb May and Clarksburg Notre Dame sophomore Jaidyn West.
Ravenswood faced off with St. Marys, Parkersburg Catholic and Williamstown during the 2019-20 season.
The Second Team featured Magnolia senior Jake Gamble, a player the Devils saw during the season, along with Clay-Battelle senior Coltin Barr, Williamstown junior Xavier Caruthers, Webster sophomore Rye Gadd, Greater Beckley’s Isaiah Hairston, a senior, Wheeling Central sophomore Ryan Reasbeck, Charleston Catholic junior Zion Suddeth and Pendleton County junior Bailey Thompson, who is the captain.
The third team consisted of captain Kaiden Pack of Greenbrier West, a junior, Trinity Christian’s Seth Goins and Fletcher Hartsock, both seniors, Nick Moore of Calhoun County, a senior, Tolsia sophomore Jesse Muncy, Cole Soles of Hundred a senior, St. Marys senior William Steele and Van senior David Stewart.
The Class AA team was released Thursday with the Class AAA team due out today (Friday).
