The Ravenswood wrestling team was one of four to do so in the Little Kanawha Conference Championship Tournament inside the Roane County High School Gymnasium on Saturday.

Eric Hupp saw his crew finish third as a team with 108.5 points and in the process enjoyed watching one individual - Clay Tanner - claim a title.

Braxton County captured the team championship by racking up 188.5 points while Wirt County finished with 149.5 to earn the runner-up honor.

For the Devils, Tanner, a junior, garnered his title in the 145-pound class with a 9-6 decision over Braxton County’s Spencer Posey.

Ravenswood had three others reach the finals and place second.

In the 113-pound title match, Wirt County’s Hunter Poole came away with a tough 7-4 win over Devil freshman Ethan Tanner.

At 132, Devil junior Cody Smith lost by a pin to Doddridge County’s Reese Burnside.

In the 182-pound championship match, Ravenswood sophomore Dalton Morre was defeated by a pin against Braxton County’s Logan Conley.

In the consolation finals, Ravenswood’s Ethan Lane picked up a third place finish in the 220-pound class.

Braxton County won six of the 14 championship matches. Wirt had three individual winners while Ravenswood was joined by Doddridge, Clay County, Roane County and Williamstown with one champ each.

Following Ravenswood in the team standings were Ritchie County (89), Roane County (76), St. Marys (64), Williamstown (59), Doddridge County (53.5), Calhoun County (34.5), Tyler Consolidated (28) and Webster County (6).

Ravenswood will compete this weekend in the Class AA-A Region IV Tournament at Williamstown this weekend.

The top four in each weight class will qualify for the 72nd West Virginia High School State Wrestling Tournament Feb. 21-23.
