CHARLESTON – Ripley’s track and field teams each placed fourth Friday evening in the always-competitive Mountain State Athletic Conference Championship Meet at UC Stadium.

In the future, that competition will certainly be missed as Ripley High athletics soon bow out of the MSAC.

The Lady Vikings finished the night with 72 team points while the Vikings scored 53.

Tori Starcher had a pair of firsts for Ripley, including a new MSAC record in the 800 meters. The freshman was clocked at 2:13.79, nipping the old mark of 2:13.80 established in 2010 by Hurricane’s Josie Crouch. Starcher produced a winning time of 5:11.85 in the 1600.

Senior Laurel Miller broke a long-standing record in the high jump. She cleared 5-07 to top the 5-06 record of Parkersburg’s Michelle Carter that was set in 1994.

Freshman Allison Fields had Ripley’s other individual first by winning the 100 meters in a time of 12.87.

Ripley’s 4x200 squad took first in a time of 1:46.07. Courtney Lanham, Sydni Cunningham, Miller and Fields made up that unit.

Maggie Criser produced a pair of third place finishes in the shot put (30-08) and discus (88-07).

Miller was fourth in the 100 hurdles (15.60) as was Presley Fisher in the pole vault (7-06).

Placing sixth for Ripley was Haley Carson in the 400 (1:02.97).

Taylor Kennedy tied for sixth in the pole vault (7-0).

In the boys division, senior Ridge Dalrymple had another big meet by winning the 110 hurdles (14.89) and anchoring the first place 4x200 (1:31.38) and shuttle hurdle relay (58.11) teams.

Garrett Roberton, Sam Pierson and Steven Carte partnered with Dalrymple on both relays.

Evan King took second for Ripley in the pole vault (12-0).

Placing third for the Vikings was Caden Parsons in the pole vault (10-06). The 4x100 relay squad (45.49) of Griffin Durst, Noah Kelly, Carte and Mason Dolin placed fourth.

The 4x400 unit (3:48.59) of Sean Fields, Noah Carson, Noah Kelly and Parsons placed fifth.

Placing sixth were Pierson in the 100 meters (11.51), Sean Fields in the 400 meters (53.21) and the 4x800 team (9:07.68) of Najee Jones, Dalton Fisher, Brandon Cochran and Trevor Kessell.

Ripley’s athletes will be setting out to get back to UC Stadium for the State Meet (May 19-20) through regional competition later this week.

Ripley will be involved in the Class AAA Region 4 Meet at Redskins Stadium in Hurricane on Friday.
