PARKERSBURG - Ravenswood and host Parkersburg Catholic engaged in a barn burner girls’ match last Saturday.  The match was tied at 3-all with Ravenswood junior Tana Phillips playing the final match of the day at No. 4 Girls’ Singles.

“Members from both teams had the court surrounded and it was quite exciting” said Ravenswood Coach Sam Hilton. “Tana was down 7-4 and stormed back to win in tiebreaker 9-8 (7-0) to finalize the team win at 4-3. I cannot be more proud of Tana as she showed focus and determination to come back and win the pressure-filled match.”

“The boys started out hot with a state semifinal rematch at  #1 Doubles. Max Hilton and Nick Williams were sizzling and won 8-4.  The No. 3 Doubles (Jake Howard and Luke Radabaugh) played an excellent match to win 8-5.  We won two of the three doubles and seemed to be on our way.  Max had an early break against Nash Morris (also a state semi rematch) and was up 5-4.  Nash Morris battled back with some awesome shots to get the break back at 5-5 and finished out the match at 8-5.  Morris lost to Charleston Catholic senior Jones last year in the finals and Max lost to Nash in the semi.  There could be a Charleston rematch for these two. We lost the boys’ match, 5-2," Hilton said.
