ELLENBORO – Class A No. 2 Ravenswood earned win No. 10 of the season Tuesday night against Ritchie County.
The Runnin’ Red Devils never relinquished a lead they built in the first quarter.
Ravenswood owned a 22-15 advantage after eight minutes of play and went on to outscore the Rebels in the three remaining quarters (21-9, 24-8 and 15-11).
“We had some kids sick and we were without (senior point guard Hayden) Mandrake (who has an injured hand),” head coach Mick Price said following the lopsided win that has his Devils at 10-1 going into a showdown with Point Pleasant Friday on the road.
Riley Heatherington paced Ravenswood’s offense with 23 points. The senior standout also supplied 11 rebounds, eight assists and three blocks in the win.
Junior Isaiah Morgan hit for 20 in the contest and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Stephen Dawson was in double figures with 18 as was Jayden Rhodes with 10.
Chase Swain scored six, Lakin Tucker added three and Alex Easthom scored two to round out the offensive for the Devils.
Ravenswood was 29-of-62 from the floor. The Devils hit five 3-pointers in the win with Heatherington and Morgan each knocking down two and Rhodes one. Ravenswood was 19-of-25 at the free throw line.
Chase Sullivan was Ritchie’s top scorer with 15.
Ravenswood also won the junior varsity game, 54-35. Easthom was the leading scorer with 21. Nick Westenhaver also hit for double figures with 14. Zack Burgess scored nine, J.T. Ball had six and Nathan Butler four.
