HUNTINGTON – With the target placed squarely on their backs, head coach Tim Ross’ Class AAA No. 4 ranked Ripley Viking soccer team overcame hard, physical play on the road at Spring Valley Tuesday night to come away with a 5-0 win.
Despite the Timberwolves’ rough tactics, the Vikings still dominated. They outshot Valley 29 to 5, scoring two goals in the first half and tacking on three more in the second. Junior Sam Pierson opened the scoring at the 37:41 mark, followed by senior Remy Boyce’s goal at the 24:02 mark which gave Ripley a 2-0 advantage at the half.
In the second, Boyce notched another goal at the 36:37 mark, Broedy Boyce scored at 25:17 and Remy Boyce completed the hat trick at the 2:47 mark. Remy Boyce, Broedy Boyce and Davisson Flint all added assists on the night. Senior goaleeper Austin Young made one save and registered the clean sheet.
Now 4-0, the Vikings return to action tonight at home in a key matchup with sectional opponent Parkersburg at 6:00 p.m.
