RAVENSWOOD - The Ravenswood Red Devilettes celebrated Senior Night Thursday at the Drome, honoring Taylor Love and Casey Snodgrass with their parents, but that was the positive side of the evening . In the ensuing game, Ravenswood was sluggish and got handed a 65-48 setback by visiting Tyler Consolidated.

To add injury to insult, junior Claudia Cubides suffered another ankle injury and did not finish the game.

The result left Coach Cara Williams mincing no words. “This team is not tough physically or mentally. We get outplayed and that really angers me,” Williams said. “That (pointing to junior Chesney Hudson on crutches who has missed most of the season injured) is tough. She plays tough. And we don’t have that.”

Tyler took a 14-9 first-quarter lead and never looked back, rolling to a 39-18 half-time bulge with a 25-9 scoring advantage in the second quarter. A 12-10 third quarter made it 51-28, before Ravenswood’s long range bombers finally woke up to help score a 20-14 advantage in the final eight minutes—far to late to matter.

Senior Taylor led the Devilettes and all scorers with 14 points including four treys. Ali Westenhaver added 13 as part of yet another double-double with 18 rebounds. Kayla Liptrap (trey) added eight; Claudia Cubides, seven; and foul-limited Haylie Reynolds (two treys), six.

The Lady Knights got 11 points each from Vanessa Templeton and Josey Jones and 10 from Aleah Black. Eleven players scored for the Knights.

Tyler made good on 17 of 31 free throw attempts in the night. Ravenswood drained just seven of 19 charities.

Haylie Reynolds grabbed six boards; and Liptrap and Love, four each. Reynolds had four assists; and Cubides, two.

Love notched a pair of steals; and Liptrap blocked three shots.

The Devilettes play at Parkersburg Catholic tonight (Tuesday).
