UPPER GLADE - Claudia “Taz” Cubides and Ali Westenhaver led the way as Coach Cara Williams’ Ravenswood Red Devilettes snapped an 11-game losing skid with a dominant 73-42 road win over the Webster County Lady Highlanders Saturday night at icy Upper Glade.

Cubides finally played healthy and her best game thus far, pouring in 28 points to lead the Devilettes. The high-speed junior also grabbed nine rebounds, dished off three assists and notched seven steals.

Sophomore Ali Westenhaver turned in yet another double-double, scoring 25 point and grabbing 17 rebounds.

Junior Haylie Reynolds scored 11 points, grabbed seven boards, dished off six assists and notched four steals.

Ravenswood forced 25 Highlander turnovers in the game.

On Thursday night, the Devilettes played well, but dropped a 79-67 home decision to LKC North rival Williamstown. The Devilettes led 24-22 after one quarter, but were outscored in the other three quarters by the Yellow Jackets. 

Ali Westenhaver took game scoring honors for Ravenswood with 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Haylie Reynolds (two treys) added 16 points; Claudia Cubides, 15; Taylor Love (three treys), 13; and Hunter Gorrell, one.

Samantha Dedrick paced the Yellow Jackets with 21 points. Melissa Cieslewski added 13; Ashley Morris and Bethany Arnold, 11 each; and Shania George, seven. 

Williamstown got 26 free throw chances (canning 18) to Ravenswood’s 13 (canning six).

Ravenswood shot 48% from the floor, draining 28 of 58 shots.

Reynolds dished off eight assists; and Cubides, four. Reynolds had four steals.

For Williamstown, Cieslewski grabbed 11 boards; and George and Vic Clark, six each. Morris dished off six assists; and Dedrick, three. Morris had seven of the Jackets’ 21 steals; and Dedrick, four.

The Devilettes now host three straight home games: Tuesday versus Parkersburg Catholic; a Saturday makeup versus Wirt County; and next Tuesday, a rematch versus the Ripley Lady Vikings.
