Walter Oten Brown, 92, of Charleston passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Valley Center in South Charleston.
He was born February 12, 1928 at Whitesville, WV a son of the late Charles Edward and Ida Mae Asbury Brown. Walter worked at Kaiser Aluminum and retired from there in 1979. He was also a minister who began preaching in 1963 in Jackson County. He also served at churches in Williamstown and Harrisville. Walter proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II as a Military Police Officer and was a life member of the American Legion Post 21. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and even spent 2 years in Venezuela while working for Reynolds Aluminum in helping them set up an aluminum manufacturing facility.
He is survived by children Larry D. Brown (Cathy) of Georgia, Cynthia Johnson (John) of Charleston and Vicky L. Skeen of Walton Kentucky. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 9 greatgrandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Clara Dell Brown, infant daughter, Lucilla Mae Brown and was the last surviving member of his 11 brothers and sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 15th at Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville with Pastor Ronald Blevins officiating and Military Rites performed by the Jackson County Honor Guard.
