Ronald Eugene “Sonny” Hinzman, 75, of Ravenswood passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020 at his home following an extended illness.
He was born August 23, 1945 at the family homeplace on Joe’s Run. A son of the late Ross and Bernice Coen Hinzman. Sonny retired from Ravenswood Aluminum with 41 years of service and was a loyal member of the Steelworkers Union Local 5668. Sonny was the type of person that never met a stranger anywhere he went. He enjoyed talking politics and attending church and revivals all around the state. Most of all of above anything, he loved his family.
He is survived by his daughters Leigh Hinzman-Combs, Casey Hinzman, Sarah Fraley, Tanya Scarberry, and Christel Cummings; brother Devon Hinzman; grandchildren Cory, Cody, Sammi, Kylie, Ronald, Annie, Timmy, Ryan, Christian and Shaylee. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Hinzman; brothers Dale, Bud, and Don Hinzman; sisters Geraldine Posten, Coleen Scarbrough, Crystal Miller, Dola White and Mary Patterson. He was also preceded in death by infant brother, Doyle Hinzman.
A funeral service to celebrate Sonny’s life will be held 1 pm. Wednesday, November 11th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastors Enoch Pursley, David Hinzman and Brandon Hinzman officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Sandyville. In accordance with guidelines set forth by the State of WV a face covering will be required to attend the services.
