Alice Douglas, 90, formerly of Spencer, West Virginia and most recently of Cedar Ridge Nursing Home in Sissonville, West Virginia, passed away July 27, 2020 at Thomas Memorial Hospice Unit in South Charleston, West Virginia after complications from a stroke.
She was born June 17, 1930 in Spencer, the daughter of the late Charles and Lucy Schwender of Spencer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Douglas; four sisters, Nellie, Desoline, Jennie, and Clarice; two brothers, Oris and Ralph; and one grandson, Jonathan McCoy.
She is survived by one sister, Eula Mae Fisher of Martinez, California; three daughters, Betty Wright (Charles) and Beverly Lawson (Virgil) of Ripley, West Virginia, and Jennifer Bowyer (Matthew) of Mt. Hope, West Virginia; three sons, Rex Douglas, Jr. of Winifrede, West Virginia, Kenneth Douglas of Milwaukie, Oregon, and Brian Douglas of Ravenswood, West Virginia; and grandchildren, Jason Wright of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Christal (Roger) McLaughlin of Poca, West Virginia, Jessica and Hannah Lawson of Ripley, and Travis McCoy of Mt. Hope.
There will be a private graveside service at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the Clover Cemetery with Chaplain Pete Thompson officiating.
The family would like to thank Cedar Ridge Nursing Home for the special care over the last several years, Thomas Memorial Hospice Unit and the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home.
