Otmer George Knopp

Cottageville - Otmer George Knopp, 95, of Cottageville, WV, went to be with his Lord and Savior, November 14, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born June 26, 1926, in Gay, WV, a son of the late George Washington and Nora Elizabeth (Rhodes) Knopp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy E. Knopp; great-grandson, Lucas Thomas; son in law, Dave Thomas; brothers, Orville, Owens, Otis, Okey, Otho and Ovie; sister, Opal Pinkerton; step-mother, Molly Harpold Knopp.

He was a World War II Army veteran serving in Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was retired from Foote Mineral Plant, New Haven, WV and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 107, Ripley, WV. Otmer was a 50+ year member of Hopewell Baptist Church, Mt. Alto where he was a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge # 30, Ripley, WV and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his son, David L. (Linda Sue) Knopp of Mount Alto; daughter, Teressa Thomas of Port Saint Lucie, FL; granddaughter, Crystal (Steve) Piva; grandson, Josh (Amber) Thomas; great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Trinity, Aiden, Sydney, Braylen, Dylan and Hailey; several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 11 a.m. ~ Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Rev. Andrew Robinson and Rev. Don Rollins officiating. Entombment will be in Jackson County Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Cottageville, WV. Military service will be conducted by the Jackson County Honor Guard. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 16, 2021, from 5 p.m. until 8p.m. at the funeral home. An Independent Order of Odd Fellows service will begin at 8 p.m. at the conclusion of the visitation.
