John Marshall Wright, 75, of Cottageville, WV, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020, in Abbyshire Place, Bidwell, OH, following an extended illness.

He was born February 17, 1945, in Ripley, a son of the late William Tuncil and Hazel Virginia (Dyke) Wright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Coral Wright, and Madalyn Farmer; brothers, Carl and George Wright.

John was a 1963 graduate of Ravenswood High School. He was a United States Army veteran serving in Vietnam as a combat medic. Following the war, he went to work for Dupont Washington Works as a mechanic and retired in 2003 with 35 years of service. John enjoyed playing bluegrass music and the upright bass was his instrument of choice. He loved working with his hands and building things he wanted instead of buying them. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He attended the Cottageville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary B. (Hawkins) Wright; daughter, Trudi Blaylock and her husband Stan of Charleston; two step-grandchildren, three step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. ~ Friday, May 22, 2020 at the Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Pastor Vera Archer and John Gunther officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Jackson County Honor Guard will be in the Blaine Memorial Cemetery, Cottageville, WV. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
