A good man is never lost. He lives on through the other good men and women he has raised, taught, and loved in his life.
He was Methodist by faith. He said, “We are believers!” He and Helen were baptized together in 1964.
He served his country during WWII. He said “I was glad I did it and saw everything I saw. Boy, I would never want to do it again.” And, “Bravery has nothing to do with courage. We were all just scared to death over there.”
He was a hard worker. He took care of his family with the help of his beloved wife, Helen.
He was a carpenter and built his own house.
He was a farmer. He even planted an orchard around his house. We just loved the fact that there was always plenty to eat.
He worked on the railroad and later retired from Kaiser Aluminum in 1988.
He continued to work from home running his own business until his last days.
He had a long, wonderful life.
He said, “In olden days a man’s wealth was judged by how many children he had.” He thought he was rich. When he was 82 years young he said, “Boy if I were a young man, I’d have a whole house just full of kids.” He had no regrets about having a large family.
We have truly been blessed to have him in our lives.
Roush Funeral Home in Ravenwood is in charge of his arrangements.
There will be a private graveside service at Ravenswood Cemetery.
