Ernest Russell Jenkins, 71, of Evans, WV, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019, at his home.

He was born August 28, 1948, in Smithers, WV, a son of the late Earl and Gypsy (Ward) Jenkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Allen Jenkins; sisters, Marcella Kearns, Lois Jenkins and Elizabeth Jenkins.

Ernest was a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam era. He was a retired furnace supervisor from Elkem Metals in Smithers and a member of the United in Christ Church in Cottageville. Ernest enjoyed fishing, camping, boating and working. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family and his dog, Teddy.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Delores (McCallister) Jenkins; son, Brandon Jenkins and his wife Dayna of Ripley; daughters, Leslie Crockett of Ravenswood, Sandra Speed and her husband John of Mien; step sons, Dewayne Profitt and his wife Angie of Shinnston, David Profitt and his wife Bambi of Fairplan; sisters, Linda Jenkins of Smithers, Mary Gillispie of Smithers, Sue Carroll of Martinsburg and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2019, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, with Pastors Kevin Jennings and Bradley Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville, with military rites provided by the Jackson County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service on Monday, at the funeral home.
