Larry Lee Shinn, 72, of Mount Alto, WV, passed away July 10, 2019, at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, following an extended illness.

He was born May 27, 1947, in Mount Alto, a son of the late Lawrence Otmer and Maxine (Sayre) Shinn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Wanda Mae (Durst) Shinn.

Larry retired from the L.C. Halstead Phone Company in 1997. He was an avid lover of dirt track racing, building cars and loved spending time with his family. He could always make you laugh and was always there for anyone with a helping hand or wise advice.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Renee Carpenter, Amanda (Scott) Carroll, Amy (Terry) Wolfe, Nikki Shinn (Chris Miller); brother, Steve (Judy) Shinn; sister, Carolyn Ranson (Bruce Casto); grandchildren, BJ Richards, Megan and Katie Carpenter, Matthew and Travis Wolfe; great- grandson, Da’Sean Richards; nieces and nephews, Kristy and Braden Riggs and many others. Also surviving are his special friends, Shawn Rhodes, Chris Garnes, Robert “Booger” Garnes and the rest of his extended racing family.

Celebration of life will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday, July 22, 2019, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV.
