On May 6th, 2019, we lost our brother, son, husband, and father, Joseph Albert Castelli. He left us here on earth and entered eternal life with God.

Joe was born on December 30, 1956 at St. Clair Memorial Hospital to Joseph and Lois Castelli and grew up in Upper St. Clair, PA, the oldest of five children. He was baptized in Christ at St. Agatha’s Church and attended elementary school at St. Louise De Marillac. Joe graduated from Upper St. Clair High School where he played both football and baseball for the school’s varsity teams. He played for the Little Dodgers Baseball Team prior to his college career.

Joe was awarded a two-year scholarship to play baseball at Panama City Community College in Florida. He then went on to his father’s alma mater, Marietta College in Ohio, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business.

Joe was a free-spirited guy who enjoyed life and made the hair stand up on his mother’s neck as a child - attempting to jump off the roof of his house as a toddler, wandering by himself over a bridge in his elementary days, and driving a tractor down a busy roadway long before he was licensed to drive.

Joe kept his passion for athletics alive by playing travel rugby well into his 50s. He also enjoyed cooking, loved being outdoors, and was dedicated to his most cherished joys - his children - Amy, Anna, and Joey. His wife of 35 years, Crystal, and his children meant everything to him.

Joe had a fearless approach to life, facing his challenges with grit and determination.

He will be missed by his devoted parents, Joe and Lois, and his siblings, Toni, Kim, Amy, and Tom.

Joe also enjoyed many loyal and loving friends, including childhood friends who were there for him as he tried to overcome the illnesses surrounding his condition. We are all grateful for their love and support.

Services for Joe will be private. A mass in his memory will be held in the Pittsburgh area at a later date.
