Hulin Hansford Cook Sr. 91, of Cottageville, WV, passed away February 17, 2019 at his home following a brief illness.
He was born May 29, 1927 in Twilight, WV, a son of the late Rosevelt and Macie May (Miller) Cook. His wife Barbara J. Cook; brothers, Edward and Delano Cook; sister, Eleanor Kundson and grandson, Ryan Smith preceded him in death.
He was a United States Air Force veteran. He was retired from Armco Steel and Peabody Coal Company. He was a member of the United Mine Workers with 42 ½ years of service. He attended the United in Christ Church, Cottageville, WV and enjoyed mowing and working on his property and vehicles.
Survivors include his children, Hulin H. Cook Jr. and his wife Carla of Charleston, WV; daughters, Carol (Bill) Coon of Las Cruces, NM, Lana Maynard of Cross Lanes, Kelly (James) Smith of Lebanon, VA, Cindy (Tommy) Cook of Danville and Mindy (Larry) Vance of Bald Knob; brothers, Lester Cook of Chicago, IL, Darrell Cook of Mrytle Beach, SC and Bobby Gene Cook of California; sister, Travella Cook of Martinsburg; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 3:30 p.m. ~ Friday, February 22, 2019 in the Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV with Pastors Mark Price and Kevin Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in the Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville, WV with military honors provided by the Jackson County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
