Lois Gay (Nelson) Cavender, 86, of Evans, WV, passed away December 5, 2018, at the Ravenswood Care Center.
She was born September 15, 1932, in Griffithville, WV, the daughter of the late Albert Alfred and Dona Lucie (Stowers) Nelson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charles Cavender; brothers, John “Buddy” Nelson and Leeotis “Poodle” Nelson and sisters, Belva “Bedgie Arbaugh, Maudie Weaver and Faye Patterson.
Lois was a homemaker, and a longstanding member of the Jackson General Hospital Auxiliary. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Rebekah’s. She attended the Independent Fellowship Church, Ravenswood and was a member of the Union Mission Church, Charleston.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Ken Howery of Evans; grandchildren, Brian Howery (Amber) of Sissonville, Matt Howery (Ashley) of Ripley and Stacy Moore (Brandon) of Evans; great grandchildren, Bailey Howery, Delaney Howery and Addison Howery all of Ripley, Zakkary Howery and Roslyn Howery of Sissonville and Jackson Moore, Colt Moore, Braxton Moore and Brooklyn Moore all of Evans.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Pastor Allen Stewart and Pastor Bradley Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery, Evans. Visitation will be from 12 o’clock noon until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
