David Phillip Moore, 79, of Ripley passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 following an extended illness.
He was born April 17, 1939 at Belleville, WV a son o f the late Everett and Catherine Swain Moore. He was a 1958 graduate of Gilmore High School and retired from Dupont as a powerhouse operator after 38 years of service. He served with the Ripley Volunteer Fire Department for 25 plus years. He was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church as well as the Independent Order of Oddfellows Rockport Chapter. He was an avid West Virginia Mountaineers football and basketball fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol Sue Canterbury Moore; Children: David K. Moore (Dianna) of Evans, Pam Moore (Steve) of Ripley, and Melissa DeFede (Brian) of Cranberry, PA; Sister Pauline Gorrell of Silverton; Grandchildren Amy Moore, Kyle Moore, Michael Moore, Michele Parsons, Jocelyn DeFede, Gwyn DeFede, Adrienne Kelly, and Tyler Kelly; Great-grandchildren Payton Casto, Slevin Godwin, Bristol Godwin, and Amsley Godwin.
Funeral service was 2 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Rev. Ford Price officiating. Visitation was held Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
