Daina Olive Kieffer Stallings, 97, of Ravenswood, went to be with the Lord on September 16, 2018, in Ravenswood Care Center.
She was born on March 6, 1921, at Dutch Ridge in Jackson County, daughter of the late Elizabeth Anna Burdette and Wilbur Arthur (Boob) Kieffer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Rex H. Stallings on July 15, 2017; sisters, Meta Pyles, Glenna Uhl, Naomi Boyce; and brothers, W.D. (Buzz), Neil, Doyle, and Cecil (Calvin) Kieffer. Daina was the last of her sisters and brothers.
Daina married Rex H. Stallings on December 11, 1941. She lived in the Medina community of Jackson County. She worked at various establishments in Ravenswood and Ripley. Daina loved working with the youth of her community. She was the leader of the Beech Grove Busy Bee 4-H Club, and she was active in the Sandyville Ladies Group and the Pond Creek Ladies Club. Daina was a member of the Simpson Methodist Church and later attended Beech Grove United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School classes for many years where she enjoyed the youth of the church. She was a resident at Ravenswood Care Center.
She is survived by her daughters, Tobie Taylor (Jim) and Joyce Ann Coleman (Dave); grandsons, Stephen Howard and Jason Edward Taylor (Megan), and David Scott Coleman; granddaughter, Carri Beth Tucker (Gary); and great granddaughter, Makenzie Lynn Taylor, who was special to her; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 1:00 pm at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood with Pastor Karen Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery.
Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Thursday, September 20, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
