Bernard Eugene Lattea, 89 of Monroe St., Salem departed this life on Saturday, August 18, 2018 in the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Home, Clarksburg.  He was born on January 23, 1929 at Alum Bridge a son of the late Phillip Sheridan and Gertrude Ethel Arbogast Lattea.  Twice married he is preceded in death by his first wife of 52 year’s Virginia McCann Lattea.  He is survived by his second wife Nina Pauline Nutter Lattea.

Also surviving are three daughters, Linda Scritchfield and husband Jim, Ravenswood, Debbie Cox, Springfield, VA, Beverly Nesselroade, Wilmington, NC, one son, Larry Lattea and wife Saundra, Ravenswood, nine grandchildren, Michelle (Randy) Heatherington, Christian (Rebecca) Scritchfield, Jeff (Junko) Lattea, Andrew (Emily) Nesselroade, Rachel Cox, Ryan Nesselroade, Leah (Ali) Cox Sarah Cox, Erin Nesselroade and eight great grandchildren.   One brother Clarence Lattea preceded him in death.

Mr. Lattea was retired from Ravenswood Aluminum as an equipment operator with 32 years’ service.  Bernard served in the U.S. Army.  He was a former member of Local 5668 United Steel Workers of America and a member of Ravenswood North United Methodist Church.  Bernard enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kevin Bender presiding. Graveside service will be conducted at 2p.m. in the Ravenswood Cemetery, Ravenswood.  The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 5-8 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at  Harbert Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Lattea family.
