Franklin Carl “Pappy” Balser, 67 of Leroy, Jackson County, passed away suddenly on March 11, 2018 at Jackson General Hospital.
He was born April 22, 1950 in Jackson County, a son of the late Jesse and Leona Lawson Balser. He was a truck driver and worked in the Logging Industry. “Pappy” enjoyed Deer Hunting and Coon Hunting and was the President of the Jackson County Coon Hunters Association.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patsy Simmons Balser; his children Joyce (Matt) Johnson, Richard (Christal) Balser and Jackie (George) DeBord; brother Roger Balser; sisters Ruth Starcher, Mary Hively, Thelma Tribble and Tressie Burdine; grandchildren Rebecca (Timmy) Dillard, Ashley (Billy) Fields, Georgette (Stewart) Asbury, Shelby (David) Dillard, Chelsey (Jake) Pursley, Brian (Cierra) DeBord, Hunter Balser, Aidan Johnson, Lauren Johnson and Karly Balser; great grandchildren Corey Dillard, Courtney Dillard, Caden Boyce, Caitlyn Boyce, Aubree Martin and Macy Pursley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Franklin Dwayne Balser; brothers Howard Balser and Walter Balser and a sister, Nancy Bevel.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Burial will be in the Baptist Grove Cemetery, Frozen Camp. Friends may call on the family on Thursday from 6 to 9 pm.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of “Pappy” may be made to the funeral home to help the family with expenses.
