Ruth Light Vegh, 93, of Ravenswood, WV, passed away on February 20, 2018, at Pleasant Valley Rehabilitation Center in Point Pleasant, WV, with family members beside her.  Ruth was born on June 18, 1924 in Fayetteville, WV.  She was the daughter of the late William and Isabel Light.  She was the 3rd of 16 children. 

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Andy Vegh, to whom she was married 56 years.  Also preceding her in death are her brothers, Billy Light, Sam Light, Larry Light, Rusty Light, Guy Light, Walter Light and sisters, Geneva Light Green and Virginia Light Henderson.

 Ruth was a graduate of Fayetteville High School.  She worked at the Company stores in both Kaymoor and Minden.  After moving to Ravenswood, she worked part time as a teacher’s aide.  She was a volunteer to many organizations. 

 She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ravenswood where she held many leadership roles.

 Ruth was a lover of outdoor activities.  She organized Girl Scouts in Ravenswood and was a Girl Scout leader. She was an avid vegetable and flower gardener.  She was a long-time member of Ravenswood Women’s Club where she served as president for several years.  She led water aerobics in Ravenswood for nearly 30 years, and she loved to crochet and make crafts.  Ruth was also well known for her outstanding cooking ability.

 Surviving are her four daughters, Karen Allen and husband Mark of Mount Nebo, WV, Sharon Drain and husband Bob of Point Pleasant, WV, Andrea (Jo) and husband Okey of Fairmont, WV, Fran Mester and husband Mark of Dover, Ohio; grandchildren Andrew (Drew) Drain and wife Alison of Garner, NC, Tracie Drain Price and husband Travis of Point Pleasant, WV, David Clevenger and wife Patricia of Atlanta, GA, Steve Clevenger and wife Monica of Morgantown, WV, Elizabeth Allen Hensley and husband Randy of Fairmont, WV, Kristin Drain and Dave Noel of Houston, TX, Shauna Drain Pearson and husband Ricky of Point Pleasant, WV, Allison Mester Feest and husband Bill of Columbus, OH, Dan Mester and fiance Katie LeMay of Costa Mesa, CA; great grandsons Colby and Carter Price, Jamason Pearson, Maxen Hensley; great granddaughters, Isabel Drain, Sofia Hensley, Lynlee Pearson; sister, Helen Light Bryant of Fayetteville; brothers, George Light of Greensboro NC, Tom Light of Mount Hope, WV, Jack Light of Victoria, VA, Don Light of Meherrin VA, and Ronald Light of Nottoway, VA.  Ruth also has many nieces and nephews.

 A Funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at 2:30 pm with Reverend Brian Arthur officiating.

Friends may visit with the family at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood WV on Saturday, February 24, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and on Sunday, from 2:00 to 2:30 pm at the church.

 Burial will follow the service in Ravenswood Cemetery.
