Milford Leon Greene, 81 of Grasslick Road in Fairplain, WV went to be with the Lord on October 17, 2017. He was the son of the Late Basil and Mayme Greene.

   Milford is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Nellie; his sons, Chuck and wife Carol, Rick and his wife Brenda and (Laird) Jamie Ruble all of Fairplain; grandchildren Heather (Eric) Holmes of Kenna, Kristen (Sean) Rhodes of Millwood, Jack Greene of Ravenswood, Brett (Marissa) Greene of Morgantown and Jack Sayre of Fairplain; great grandchildren Alexis, Haley, Brianna and Easton Holmes, Mallory and Natasha Rhodes, Jacob, Todd and Lydia Greene and great-great granddaughter Kenadee.

   Milford was a member of the Grasslick Baptist Church where he had served as an usher. He retired from DuPont-Washington Works as a Supervisor in Butacite with 33 years of service.

Milford was involved in many civic organization throughout his lifetime including: Eastern Star Chapter #17 of Ripley and Chapter # 16 of Cottageville where he served three time as Worthy Patron and was Grand Representative to the State of Iowa and the Rainbow Advisory Board. He was a member of the Ripley Lodge #16 of the AF/AM, Scottish Mason & Shriners (Ohio Valley Shriner’s Club).

He had a great love of horses and was active in the Jackson County Horse Club. He was active in the Jackson County Horse Club. He was a trainer and a showman, winning several trophies throughout the years.

   He was just as active in community organizations such as: Cub Scout Pack Master at Kenna, former 9 year County Committee man of the Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Service (ASCS), Former member of the Jackson County Livestock Board of Directors, Past Board Member of the Fairplain Improvement Committee, a former Chairman and Vice Chairman of the West Virginia Association of Farmers Elected Committeemen, and Farmer’s & Sportsmen Association. Carrying on the tradition of farming from his father and grandfather, Milford continued working the family farm with his son Chuck and in 2015 won the Jackson County Conservation Farm (Western District) award, something he was most proud of.

   After retirement, Milford and Nellie were able to travel to all 50 states, enjoying their life together and making a lifetime of wonderful memories.

   Visitation will be at Waybright Funeral Home on Thursday, October 19 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm with an Eastern Star Service at 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at Grasslick Baptist Church on Friday, October 20 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Given, with Masonic Rites provided by the Ripley Masonic Lodge.

   In memory of Milford, a contribution to the Hubbard House, 1001 Curtis Price Way, Charleston, WV 25311, would help continue their service in caring for people in their greatest hours of need.
