Matthew Murray Roberts, 40, of Evans, WV, passed away January 21, 2017, in Williamstown, WV, form injuries received in an automobile accident.

He was born May 11, 1976, in Spencer, WV a son of Delmas Lane (Judy) Roberts of Eleanor, WV and Peggy Sue (Clay) Pate and her husband Billy of Evans, WV.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Lane and Gladys Roberts and William and Elizabeth Clay.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his sons and their mothers, Christopher Clay Roberts and his mother Sharon of Fairfield, M.E. and Chancey Matthew Roberts and his mother Teri of Parkersburg; step-children Ryder and Mackenzie Deem; brothers, Mike (Linda) Roberts, of Parkersburg, Rodney Greathouse of Frametown, Mark Roberts, of Medina, David and Sean Roberts both of Columbus, Kenny Pate of Evans, Marty Pate of Fruit Cove, FL, Tim Higginbotham, Tom(Pam) Higginbotham and Todd (Angie) Higginbotham all of Eleanor; sister, Teresa (Dave) Windland of Parkersburg; nieces and nephews, Derek and Cameron Roberts, Seth, Chelsea, and Kaleb Windland and Tiffany Greathouse along with a host of other extended family; life long friends, Chancey, Jesse, Justin, Brett, Matt, Mike, Matt, Adam, Dan, Justin, Jamie.

He was a graduate of Ripley High School where he excelled in track and cross-country. He was a United States Air Force veteran and a member and past post commander of American Legion Post #159 Williamstown, WV. He was a member of the V.F.W. and an avid West Virginia Mountaineer fan. He was employed by the Bureau of Fiscal Service in Parkersburg as a program analyst with 20 years of service and was a Christian by faith.

Service will be Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV, with Pastors Adam Nester and Greg Blake officiating. Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #159 Williamstown, WV in the Roberts Family Cemetery, Millstone, WV. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
