Betty J. Smith “B.J.”Miller Hughes Turner, 86, of Ripley passed away Friday morning, October 28, 2016 at her home, meeting her dear Lord and is now dancing with the angels saying, “Look at me now.”

She was born February 25, 1930 in Charleston, WV a daughter of the late Charles Avril and Carrie Carnella Smith. She had been employed by Camden Clark Hospital for 15 years before moving to Willoughby, OH and was employed as a CNA by Manor Care from which she retired after 15 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband’s William “Lefty” Miller, Robert Hughes, and Charles Turner, all dying of lung cancer; Brothers Raymond and Laffette Smith, Robert Gannon, and Russel Smith; Grandson Curtis William Hamilton; Granddaughter Tina Lynn Hamilton; and Step-son Roanld Hughes.

She is survived by her children Darlene (Robert) Smith of Ripley and William “Skip” Miller (Lori) of Colorado; Stepdaughter Patricia (Gerald) Sorber of Ohio; Grandchildren Marcy (Joseph) Triana of Ripley, Crystal (Kevin) Richardson of Colorado, Tony (Julie) Miller of Australia; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren; 4 step great-great grandchildren; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She left a true legacy for her family and friends behind as she remained faithful to her Lord and was so prepared to leave this world, more prepared than we were to lose her.

A memorial service to celebrate Betty’s life will take place at 5 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2016 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Todd King officiating.
