Macel Ruth Hoschar, 91, of Cottageville, WV, passed away July 4, 2016, in the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, following a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 4, 1924, in Cottageville, the daughter of the late Henry Elmer and Bedie Alice (Thornton) Sayre. Her husband, Roy; infant daughter, Frances Alice, two stillborn daughters; brothers, Thornton, Waldo and Raymond Sayre, and sisters, Ida Livingston, Betty Jean Newell and Chloie Sharp also preceded her in death.
Macel was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, gardening, quilting and sewing. She was an active member of the Jackson County Democratic Party and in her youth attended the Fairview Christian Advent Church, then later, the Evans Church of God.
Survivors include her sons, Roy Robert Hoschar (Katheryn) of New Vienna, OH, and James Raymond “J.R.” Hoschar of Cottageville; daughter, Loretta Ruth Jensen (Gregory) of Piedmont, SC; grandchildren, Josh Auman, Robert and Shane Hoschar and Tiffany Goff; great grandchildren, Carrie Auman, Savannah Kuhn, and Tony Hoschar.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV, with the Rev. Gerald B. Sayre officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Cottageville. Visitation will be one hour prior to time of service on Saturday.
