Glenn Monroe Smith, Jr., 65, of Ravenswood passed away at CAMC Memorial Division on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 following an extended illness.

He was born August 24, 1950 at Kentuck, WV, a son of the late Glenn Monroe Sr. and Bessie Blanche Blackshire Smith.

Glenn retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways after many years of service. He was also a Methodist preacher and was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Walton Lodge 150 A.F & A.M. Glenn enjoyed singing, going to Revivals, Hunting and Fishing and Politics as he was the Head of the Republican Headquarters. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends.

He is survived by his children Glenn Monroe Smith III of Ripley and Angel Anderson (Brad) also of Ripley; Stepsons Roscoe Hazlewood of Ravenswood and Ronnie Thomas of Charleston; Brother James Edison Smith of Letart; Sisters Verlie Payne of Racine, Ohio and Rosemary Brooks of  Marysville, Ohio; Grandchildren Chase Stanley and Brooklyn Anderson.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Donald, Wilbur, Walter, and Frank Smith and Sisters Wanda Matheny Haines and Wilda Mae Parsons.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastors Enoch Pursley and Bud McVey officiating. Friends may call on the family on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. Burial with Masonic Rites will be in the Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico.
