Robert Eugene Shatto was born October 18, 1932 and passed away on January 7, 2016 after a long illness at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
Bob was the son of the late Carl R. Shtatto and Virginia Dawes. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William K. Shatto, and a son who died early in life.
Bob is survived by his wife Mary E. Shatto of Ripley, his son William Shatto (Beverly), sister Bernice Miller (Harold) of Bradenton, FL, Florence Stump of Akron, OH, Penny Hermsdorfer(Joe) of Sandyville; Brother, Ronnie Shatto of Utah; grandchildren Arin McKensie Shatto and Ryan Heath Shatto of Ripley; step-grandchildren Morgan Amanda Lee(Jimmy) of Atlanta, GA and Justin James Weekley(Kathleen) of Charleston; and niece Deborah Woosley(Kerry) of Bradenton, FL
Bob served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed watching athletic events, especially those involving his grandchildren and the Ripley High School Baseball and Softball programs. Most recently he developed an interest in kayaking, which he enjoyed with his son.
A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley at 4 p.m. Friends may call on the family from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Following the service there will be a time of food and fellowship at the Parsons-Vail Family Center located inside the funeral home.
