When the Adopt-A-Family Screening Committee met on Tuesday, there were five new applications. Five families are still on “hold” for further checking by committee members.

The Screening Committee will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 18, to review the new applications that come in this week as well as all those still on “hold.”

Applications are still being accepted and can be picked up at The Jackson Newspapers, 410 Race Street, during regular business hours Monday through Friday, or by calling Sally Carter at 304-273-9897.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, things will be different this year. The program will not be accepting used clothing, used furniture, nor used toys. The CDC guidelines will be followed requiring the use of face masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer, as well as social distancing. The committee also asks that no bags of clothing be left at the fire station, as they have no place to put them.

The Adopt program is in need of churches, groups, and individuals to adopt some of these families. Please give Mrs. Carter a call and she will be glad to place one or more families.
